A smart parrot who speaks, paulie, joins the story of his battle into a Russian immigrant who works as a janitor at the research institute where he neglected and could be housed. Paulie's narrative begins many years earlier in the day if he could be awarded as a gift. Finally , he teaches the girl to speak but is removed by her dad because he thinks the girl cannot distinguish fantasy from reality because she thinks the bird could talk.
