North West Mounted Police
Dusty Rivers, a Texas Ranger ("Isn't that a contradiction in terms?" asks another character), travels to Canada in the 1880s to find Jacques Corbeau, who is wanted for murder. He ends up in the midst of the Riel Rebellion, in which Métis (people of French and Native ancestry) and Natives want to form their own nation. Dusty is smitten by nurse April Logan, who is also smitten by Mountie Jim Brett. April's brother is in a relationship with Courbeau's daughter Louvette, which causes complications during the battles between the rebels and the Mounties. Dusty is adamant about bringing Corbeau back to Texas (and April, too, if he can manage it.)
