"Dating Amber" is an insightful look at the highs and lows of adolescent life, in which the only way to fit in is to pretend you're someone you're not. It's about Eddie and Amber (both 17) who decide to put on a show because they're embarrassed of their sexual orientation and don't want anyone else to make assumptions about them. While Eddie is eager to join the military, Amber dreams of moving to London's liberal heartland. Their "perfect" arrangement begins to disintegrate, putting Eddie in a deeper state of denial while Amber realizes that her best friend's life is in danger unless she intervenes. Love letter to those kids who were raised in tiny towns and needed to leave to be themselves. Beards is a tribute.
