Eddie is a liar and a con man. This time, however, he's been accused of a crime and must appear in front of a judge. He intends to avoid punishment by declaring insanity. He ends up in a psychiatric institution for an evaluation. A storm passes across New York that night, knocking off the power to the hospital. Eddie gets mistaken for a doctor in the confusion that ensues. He finds himself suddenly in control of an entire hospital!
