Boudu Saved from Drowning
Boudu, a Parisian vagabond who commits suicide by jumping into the Seine, is saved by wealthy publisher Edouard Lestingois in one of the most iconic performances in film history by Michel Simon. The irrepressible bum accepts the Lestingois family's offer of shelter, and as a token of appreciation, he rocks the house to its very core. Legendary director Jean Renoir employs a variety of Parisian settings as well as the anarchic charms of his star to create an effervescent satire of the bourgeoisie in his film Boudu Saved from Drowning.
