Before We Grow Old
Berlin in the height of the summer season. Three twenty-somethings: two Berliners, Maria and Niels, and a British student, Chlo. Maria and Niels are from Berlin. They go headfirst into a joyful and wild love affair with one other as they float libidinously through Berlin. Affluently living life to the fullest, they seize every opportunity to do so. Until Chloe unexpectedly gets pregnant, their main reference point appears to be the joy they share together. These feelings of uncertainty and insecurity have erupted. Abortion is planned, but the woman decides not to go through with it. Who is authorized to speak, and when, and on what matters? As their peculiar trio disintegrates, so does their once-balanced relationship, until it appears that a shaky equilibrium can be restored, if only for the briefest of moments. Does this mean they've arrived at their utopia, or is it just the calm before the storm? It takes a lot of effort to love differently. No one expects Maria, Niels, and Chlo to shock the world. They're not, either.
