Mitchell Goosen is a Californian teenager who enjoys surfing and rollerblading. As a zoologist father and zoologist mother, they received a grant to travel to Australia. However, Mitchell couldn't travel with them because he had to work. As a result, his aunt, uncle, and cousins in Cincinnati, Ohio, are assigned to look after him. Wiley, his cousin and roommate for the next six months, greets him when he arrives. As a result, Mitchell has a run-in with the local high school hockey team while at school. The lads subject Mitchell and Wiley to weeks of abuse. Then, in order to compete against Central High School's adversaries along Devil's Backbone, Mitchell and Wiley must work together with the big boys.
