Wycliffe
Based on the detective superintendent Charles Wycliffe novels by W. J. Burley, Wycliffe is a British television series. Following a pilot episode on August7,1993, it was created by HTV and aired between July24,1994, and July5,1998, on the ITV Network. With a Truro production office, the series was filmed in Cornwall. Nigel Hess wrote the music for the show, and his work won the Royal Television Society prize for best television theme. In addition to DI Doug Kersey and DI Lucy Lane, Wycliffe is portrayed by Jack Shepherd. Each episode focuses on a different murder investigation. The early series' stories are adaptations of Burley's books in the traditional whodunit genre, frequently with eccentric characters and plot developments. Later seasons adopt a more lifelike tone, and internal police politics receive greater attention.
