The Odyssey
The Odyssey is a Golden Globe-nominated and Emmy Award-winning American fantasy–adventure television miniseries from 1997. The miniseries premiered on NBC on May 18, 1997, and was directed by Andrei Konchalovsky. Later, the series was nominated for an Emmy for "Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or Special." The Odyssey, an ancient Greek epic poem credited to Homer, is the basis for the series. It was shot in Malta, Turkey, and many other locations across the Mediterranean, as well as sections of England, where the story takes place. Armand Assante, Greta Scacchi, Irene Pappas, Isabella Rossellini, Bernadette Peters, Christopher Lee, and Vanessa L. Williams are among the international all-star cast.
