Soldier Soldier

Soldier Soldier is a British television drama show. The name originates from a classic song of the identical name -"Soldier, soldier are you going to marry mepersonally, together along with your musket, fife and drum" - which was used as its theme music, an instrumental version. Produced by Central Television and broadcast on the ITV system, it ran for a total of 82 episodes and seven seasons from 1991 to 1997. It featured the everyday lives of a group of soldiers in'B' Company a British Army infantry regiment loosely dependent to the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Place in the immediate aftermath of the Cold War, it is regarded to mid-1990s, when the British Army was experiencing significant change. That is probably best demonstrated during the third show, approximately 1994, when a significant quantity of real regiments were forced into amalgamations with each other thanks to down sizing of their army. From the world of Soldier Soldier, the King's Fusiliers are also forced to amalgamate with another fictional regiment, all the Cumbrian Regiment, getting the King's Own Fusiliers. Soldier Soldier was broadcast, so the fatality rate was low with casualties as a result of training injuries and suicides. The military as a whole was assigned than doing any fighting to performing more peace keeping assignments. The show served to portray the army, in an lighting that was good, despite the problems that could occur.
