The series uses"mockumentary" methods to depict the literary, reality television-style experiences of passionate professional critic Forrest MacNeil, who hosts a television show called"Inspection" where he engages in any life adventure his audiences ask him to learn whether that life adventure"is any good". Then, Forrest formally rates each life adventure in-studio, on a scale. However, Forrest's compulsive curiosity and uncompromising commitment to the show unexpectedly backfire in ways that increasingly destroy his life as he is asked to critique'stealing','''drug dependency ','''being a racist','''becoming divorced','becoming revenge', and'running out of law.
