Mission: Impossible
Bruce Geller developed and first produced the American television series Mission: Impossible. The Impossible Missions Force, a group of undercover government agents, is profiled in the book's missions. Dan Briggs, played by Steven Hill, serves as the team's manager during the first season; Peter Graves' Jim Phelps assumes control during the following two. A defining moment of the show is when Briggs or Phelps is shown receiving his orders on a tape before it self-destructs and the Lalo Schifrin theme music plays. From September 1966 until March1973, the show ran on the CBS network. From 1988 to1990, the show made a brief comeback on television for two seasons, this time airing on ABC. Only Graves remained in the cast. Later, starting in1996, it served as the basis for a successful run of theatrical movie features starring Tom Cruise.
