Casanova
The Italian adventurer and libertine Giovanni Jacopo Casanova lived from 17 25 to 1798, however in this series Dennis Potter attempted to locate a contemporary relevance through his themes of religion and sex. He commented Casanova"was worried about sexual and religious freedom, and these are the things we now need to address ourselves to now." Casanova premiered in Venice in 1755, also Potter used that event being a central device, constantly inter-cutting to comparison Casanova's amorous escapades, radiant, bright and brightly lit, at the gloom of a cell that was half-darkened using his solitary confinement that was oppressive.
