Carlos / Le prix du Chacal
Carlos is theater biographical picture and really a French-German tv from 2010, regarding the life of this 1970 s terrorist Carlos the Jackal, until his arrest in 1994 from his collection of strikes in 1973. It premiered as a three-part TV mini series on French pay channel Canal+, with all the 3 parts. On exactly the same day it premiered on Canal+, the 51/2 hour version was shown at the 2010 Cannes filmfestival out of competition.
Produced by Daniel Leconte of French production company Film En Stock and Jens Meuer of German Manufacturing company Egoli Tossell Film, in association with Canal+ and French Arte, it was led by Olivier Assayas by the screenplay by Leconte, Assayas along with Dan Franck, along with stars Édgar Ramírez as Carlos. The movie is both as a feature picture of various lengths between 338 and 319 minutes and a three-part miniseries, but also in several models that are abridged, from 187 minutes to 166 minutes.
Classified like a TV film/TV miniseries in addition to a film, Carlos was given both TV awards and theatrical awards. One of them the 2010 Golden Globe award for the'Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television', the 2010 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Director, the National Society of Film Critics 2010 award for Best Director, the New York Film Critics Circle 2010 award for Best Foreign Language Film, the 2010 European Film Award for Best Editor, the 2010 Critics Award for Best Film at the São Paulo International Film Festival, also Édgar Ramírez won the 2010 César Award for Most Promising Actor.
