Kryptonian villain General Zod (Terence Stamp) and his henchmen are freed out of their outer space imprisonment and threaten Earth with jealousy, as Superman (Christopher Reeve) decides to renounce his super powers because of his new romance, Lois Lane (Margot Kidder).
