Bottle Rocket
(This is the short film that served as inspiration for Wes Anderson's feature debut.) The banality of criminal activity. Two young men, Dignan and Anthony, are walking along the street and discussing about the television show "Starsky and Hutch." They're on their way to commit a burglary in a residence. Following that, they go to a café and play some pinball. They have a disagreement about the burglary and consult with their pal Bob about another idea they have devised. They approach a man about purchasing a pistol only for the purpose of intimidating him. Anthony enters a vehicle in order to steal a wallet. They collaborate with Bob to plot and perform a heist, which they discuss afterward at a burger stand: armed robbery for $183. They're satisfied with the results. The two friends compete against one another.
